Workflow software

Project 02 · Client work · Operational software Ongoing client work

Shared scripts → one portal, one version, scheduled jobs

Type
Ongoing client work
Surface
Power BI connector + data portal
Scope
Connector, export jobs, client dashboard, installer, scheduling
Client
Clumsy Giant
The data portal building an export job: a preview of invoice rows on the left, and a schedule panel on the right setting the job to run daily at 6:00 AM and write Parquet files to an S3 archive.
01 · The problem

The workflow needed to scale with the business.

Data exports ran on scripts shared by the team. As the business grew, this approach started to show its limits. What data was pulled could vary between different runs, and keeping track of the current version became increasingly difficult. A growing business needs better tools.

02 · What Pixlode built

The build.

Pixlode turned a collection of data workflows into a more flexible, repeatable solution.

It started with a reusable Power BI connector, built to support a wider range of reporting needs across customers rather than a single project.

Next came a data portal that made it easier to browse data, configure exports, manage multiple client environments, and schedule jobs to run automatically.

Finally, a local installer brought everything together, making deployment and ongoing job execution simpler without requiring a complicated setup.

  1. 01 Power BI connector
  2. 02 Data windows & export jobs
  3. 03 Multi-client dashboard
  4. 04 Installer & scheduling
The data portal dashboard reporting all systems operational, five export jobs due to run within the next few minutes to hours, and the latest runs that pushed rows to their destinations.
03 · Outcome

One portal now runs the exports: anyone can install, configure and run it on schedule.

Certain implementation details are intentionally withheld.
